OUR HISTORY

Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation was created in 1994 to support one of our community’s most valued assets, Atrium Health Cabarrus. Community leaders were invited to establish a Foundation Board of Directors whose mission was to secure additional financial support solely for Atrium Health Cabarrus. Through an organized program of fund development with families, friends, businesses and neighbors, this mission continues today. Gifts to Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation are considered gifts of love and support from the community, gifts that acknowledge the importance of preserving and enhancing the health status of our community.

“We Give First” is the annual giving campaign with an $8 million fundraising goal, and a mission to make Atrium Health Cabarrus the First and Best choice for Healthcare. The campaign will continue to allow donors the ability to designate which area of Atrium Health Cabarrus their gift will benefit.

The Board of Directors unanimously decided to adopt a donor-centered approach. By accurately matching the donor’s interest with the hospital’s need, a more impactful gift experience is created for the donor in areas of the hospital for which they are most passionate.

The campaign provided funding to build four more residential care rooms and eight more general inpatient rooms to the existing Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, doubling the number of patient rooms from 12 to 24. The new space also houses a larger parlor and chapel, and a new staff station and quarters.

The Breast Health Center community campaign developed the Breast Health Program, including the Breast Health Center, to purchase digital mammography equipment and the mobile mammography van, and to provide additional support for breast health community outreach programs.

Jeff Gordon Children’s Center (JGCC) is a 53-bed children’s hospital located on the campus of Atrium Health Cabarrus providing highly specialized, exceptional pediatric care close to home. JGCC offers a wide range of services including subspecialty and intensive care; and a Children’s Advocacy Center.

The Cabarrus College of Health Sciences (CCHS)community campaign, built the college’s current facility on the campus of Atrium Health Cabarrus. CCHS focuses on health sciences education and offers bachelor and associate degrees as well as diplomas, certificates and continuing education.

All gifts given prior to 2002 supported equipment, programs and facility needs at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
