PRESIDENT

As president of Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation, Charlie Sastoque leads the team focused on fundraising in support of Atrium Health Cabarrus, Cancer Services, Cardiac Services, Endowment, Emergency Services, Greatest Need, Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, Neurosciences, Surgical Services, Women’s Services and Cabarrus College of Health Sciences.

Charlie joined the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation in 2014, from Dallas, Texas, where he served as Executive Director of the Plano Independent School District (ISD) Education Foundation, one of the top 100 school districts in the United States. He guided the foundation through unprecedented growth and the development and fundraising to build a Health Academy and a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Academy.

Prior to joining Plano ISD Education Foundation, Charlie served as Director of Development and Major Gifts Officer for the giving programs and capital campaigns at Dallas Children’s Health, ranked among one of the top Pediatric hospitals in the nation. Before his post with Children’s Health, he served as Director of Major Gifts for the Plano Symphony Orchestra. Before moving to Texas after Hurricane Katrina, Charlie worked for the renowned Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans as Director of Principal Gifts. His passion for fundraising began 25 years ago as Director of Human Resources for Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans, where he transitioned into fundraising as its Director of Development.

Charlie graduated from Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Public Health and Sociology. In 25-year career, Charlie has served in distinct leadership and fundraising positions in healthcare, social services, education, performing arts and human resource management. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and originally from Bogota, Colombia, Charlie lives in Concord, North Carolina with his wife and four Children.

Charlie currently also serves as the Assistant Vice President of Grants and Contracts for Atrium Health Cabarrus and is a member of the Concord Rotary Club and Children’s WIN Steering Committee. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Cabarrus Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of Leadership Cabarrus.
