Raising $50.3 Million for Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast

CONCORD, N.C. (January 31, 2019) — The Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation, whose purpose is to provide financial and community support for Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) NorthEast, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2019.  The Foundation kicked-off its Silver Anniversary with an event on Tuesday night at the Cabarrus Country Club to honor its current and past leaders, Board of Directors, community donors and corporate partners who have contributed to its accomplishments over the last 25 years.

Board Chair Dakeita Vanderburg and Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation President Charlie Sastoque hosted the evening, along with CHS Northern Division President Phyllis Wingate.

“I would like to recognize the Foundation’s successes and its importance to our hospital and our community,” stated Wingate on Tuesday. “The Foundation has had several successful campaigns over the past years.  These campaigns include: Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, Jeff Gordon Children’s Center, NorthEast Breast Health Center, Expansion of the Tucker Hospice House and lastly, the We Give First campaign.   I am proud to share the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation has raised $50.3 million since 1994.  We could not have reached these milestones for CHS NorthEast without our generous donors and community.  Thank you for celebrating and thank you for your support and contributions to the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation. “

The hosts then presented distinguished awards to several individuals and corporate partners who have reached a new level of lifetime giving with the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation.  The Governor’s Crime Commission moved up to the Visionary Level, which is over $1 million, in its support of the Children’s Advocacy Center at Jeff Gordon Children’s Center.  Three donors were recognized for reaching the Cornerstone Level ($100,000 – $499,999) and included Susan Howell Bare, Focused on a Cure – Karen Goforth and North Carolina Hospital Foundation.

One of the highlights of the evening was surprising the 2019 recipients of the Lillibridge Outstanding Physician Award who will be honored at the Foundation’s annual black-tie event, the “Gala of Lights” held at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center on March 9.  Sponsored by Lillibridge Healthcare Services, the award is presented annually to a physician or physicians who exhibit exceptional leadership skills, an undeniable talent in the field in which he or she works and is dedicated to CHS NorthEast and the community.  This year’s award winners are Dr. Linda Bresnahan and Dr. Robert Kinney who are both respected physicians within the community and were chosen by the past recipients of the award: 2013 – Dr. Douglas G.
