CONCORD, N.C. (March 14, 2018) — The Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation, whose purpose is to provide financial and community support for Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) NorthEast, its board of directors and Honorary Chairs Bill and Ann Cannon are excited to announce their plans for the Foundation’s 24th annual Black-Tie Gala.  Themed Old Hollywood: Red Carpet Gala, the 2018 event will bring many changes to Cabarrus County’s premier event.  This year, the event will be held on Saturday, April 14 at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center which will be transformed to represent the days of the leading ladies and men of the silver screen.

“The Board is looking forward to an evening that begins with the lights on the red carpet, continues inside with an exciting event with friends, dinner, silent and live auctions and ends with an exhilarating band dancing the night away,” said Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation Board Chair Dakeita Vanderburg Johnson.  “Dollars raised have a definite impact on the needs of our various hospital areas to continue to provide the best care for our community.”

The festive evening will feature a live and silent auction, great food and beverages, and entertainment provided by Emerald Empire Band.  The $10,000 raffle prize returns this year thanks to a sponsorship by US Acute Care Solutions.  Sponsorships, reserved seating and raffle tickets are now available.  For more information on sponsorships or to purchase your seating and raffle tickets visit or call 704-403-1369.

One of the highlights of the evening is always the presentation of the Lillibridge Outstanding Physician Award.  Sponsored by Lillibridge Healthcare Services, the award is presented annually to a physician who exhibits exceptional leadership skills, an undeniable talent in the field in which he or she works and is dedicated to Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast and the community.  Past recipients of the award are: 2013 – Dr. Douglas G. Kelling; 2014 –  Dr. Linny M. Baker; 2015 –  Dr. Bob E. Hammonds; 2016 – Dr. Tom T. Long, III; and 2017- Dr. Paul T. Campbell.

The auctioneer for the evening is Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation Board Member and local businessman Allen Craven. Craven will auction off an impressive array of auction items including trips, jewelry and one raffle ticket guaranteed to be 1 of 10 in the final drawing for the $10,000.  Several local businesses, restaurants and organizations donated items for the silent auction as well.  There will be several new features and surprises for the evening, including valet parking, a photo station, VIP lounges for top sponsors and a fun video.

The 2018 Gala is part of the We Give First campaign.  We Give First is the annual giving campaign for the Cabarrus Healthcare Foundation and CHS NorthEast.  With an $8 million fundraising goal from 2017-2020, every dollar raised through the campaign stays at CHS NorthEast to Improve Health, Elevate Hope and Advance Healing for all.
