Nurses Week was May 6-12
WE HONORED OUR NURSES THE WHOLE MONTH OF MAY.
Thank you for your help and
Congratulations to our 14 Winners!

Amanda Nixon-Hudgens is a great nurse and helps me daily.

Angie Race is the Cardiac nurse educator who is very knowledgeable in our field. She not only schedules and teaches useful classes and seminars, but also pitches in during emergencies when we need extra hands. She is an encourager to the nurses climbing the clinical ladder and spends hours in meetings, learning where the needs are to improve nursing quality and how to implement those changes in the cardiac units. She is a friend to new nurses and to me too.

Our Mother Baby, Lactation, and Perinatal Education teams show a daily commitment to making certain that needs and education of our patients are met through their dedication to providing individualized care to all. Through this focus, their patient experience scores have been meeting goals as well as the GetWell educational goals. With visitors being limited because of Covid, they have gone the extra mile to be supportive to our patients during this very special time in their life.

Although Stephanie Skinner Matthews is my daughter-in-law, I know she willingly works extra hours to ensure her patients receive the best of care. She goes in early and covers co-workers' shifts as needed so that her staff is less stressed. She is extremely dedicated to her calling as a nurse.

DeAnn Welke is a clinical nurse, and the most incredible example of a true bedside leader you will ever meet. Her dedication to her patients and the team with whom she works is unparalleled, and her work this year at the patient and unit level has been absolutely vital. She is a trusted expert who leads by example, advocates passionately for best practice, hold others accountable, provides excellent care, and mentors others to do the same.

Thank you to Staci Berry for her dedication as a preceptor to growing our newest nurses. Stacy is the Star Preceptor of the Year for the AH Cabarrus Cardiac Division. You rock!

Thank you to Heather Furr for her dedication as a preceptor to growing our newest nurses. Heather is the Star Preceptor of the Year for the AH Cabarrus Cardiac Division. You rock!

As CNE, Patricia Baise works daily to make a difference in the care of our patients. She embodies the Atrium Health Values of Caring, Commitment, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Sharon (Allen) Patton RN has been in the front lines fighting this terrible virus. Even though these are terrible times, she is always smiling! I appreciate her kindness and all the work she does for our patients and teammates. She is a true hero!

Thank you to Kayce Wilson for her dedication as a preceptor to growing our newest nurses. Kayce is the Star Preceptor of the Year for the AH Cabarrus Medical Division. You rock!

Laura Davis Troutman, FNP who is a nurse practitioner, is special to me firstly because she is my daughter. I am extremely proud of the accomplishments she has made in her chosen profession. Although Laura is now a NP, she is hard-working, dedicated and is always seeking to improve in order to provide the highest level of care for her patients. She has strength and resilience to meet demands of the critical care world, yet is compassionate and perceptive to patients and families.

I would like to honor Johnna Parsons for her continued dedication to this facility. Day after day under all circumstances she gives 100% to make sure we take care of our patients and staff as well as possible. She does this with a positive attitude that encourages her staff to do the same. No matter how bad it gets you always know there is a smile under that mask.
